No care leaver should feel alone on Christmas Day.
Christmas comes with a lot of assumptions. Family. Home. Traditions. A table full of food. Someone waiting for you.
For the many young adults who have grown up in care, Christmas can be a very different experience. A day that celebrates togetherness can instead bring loneliness, difficult memories and the feeling of being forgotten.
We believe everyone deserves a place at the Christmas table.
That's why The Gold from the Stone Foundation supports volunteer-led Christmas Dinners for care-experienced young adults aged 18–25 across the UK.
Founded by poet Lemn Sissay OBE, the Christmas Dinners have been bringing communities together since 2013, creating joyful, welcoming celebrations for young adults who might otherwise spend Christmas Day alone. And these are no ordinary Christmas Dinners - there's good food. Thoughtful gifts. Music. Laughter. Safe transport home. A room full of people who've spent weeks making sure every detail feels special.
Most importantly, there's a place prepared just for you. A reminder that you were thought about. That you were expected. That you matter.
